Hi, my name is Wyatt!
I am a 2 yr old Golden Nugget and I am employed as an Evaluator Dog at GoodFellas Doggy Daycare. That means I get to meet all the new kids that want to go to school there and decide if I like them or not. Notwithstanding that amazin job, I have recently felt like I was meant to do bigga things.
I thought about running for office. Maybe as a Selectman or Representative, but I'm a bit conservative for this town. One day I asked my Mom & Dad, "What are vaccines? Which ones do I need and why do I need them?" And that's how Wyatt2020 the Information Campaign was born!

Feel Empowered
My first campaign promise is to help empower humans to ask questions of their veterinarian. Know what your options are. Information is power. We are your kids so it's important for you humans to know the difference between vaccination and over-vaccination.
Unlike bacon, when it comes to vaccines, more is not better.

Are you aware that there is a simple blood test that can help humans make informed decisions when it comes to vaccinating against the Distemper Virus, Parvovirus Adenovirus and Parainfluenza?

I feel the need to promote bacon! I love bacon! I like bunnies too and chase them every morning, but bacon smells way better.
I also need to bring awareness to the great work of Dr. Ronald Schultz, Dr. Jean Dodds and their team at The Rabies Challenge Fund.

My humans hope that someday The Rabies Challenge Fund will have enough scientific support (I'm not sure what that is, but I know it's important) to challenge the flawed portions of the Rabies Laws in Massachusetts. Until then, I will continue to promote responsible vaccination protocols and titer testing in lieu of over-vaccinating.

Rabies Vaccine
A titer test is a blood sample that measures the level of immune system proteins called antibodies. Antibodies fight against infectious agents such as Distemper Virus, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and others. If any level of antibodies are present then I'm protected and don't need to be revaccinated. Prevent over-vaccinating and avoid the risks surrounding unnecessary vaccinations by having your Vet perform a titer test. That way you only vaccinate if you have to. Remember, you can’t add immunity to an already immune pet, so don’t keep vaccinating! And like I said before, unlike Bacon, more is not better.

the 1 year rabies vaccine is virtually the same vaccine as the 3 year vaccine!
The only difference is the way the manufacturer labels the product.

Vaccination reactions that have been documented include:

Behavior changes such as aggression and separation anxiety

A study of more than 2,000 cats and dogs in the United Kingdom by Canine Health Concern showed a 1 in 10 risk of adverse reactions from vaccines. This contradicts what the vaccine manufacturers report for rates of adverse reactions, which is “less than 15 adverse reactions in 100,000 animals vaccinated”
The rabies vaccine contains a preservative called Thimerosal. Thimerosal contains the heavy metal MERCURY! Yes, Mercury! So, the next time your human takes you to the doctors office for the Rabies vaccine, ask for the Thimerosal Free vaccine! The one they use on Ferrets.
Some vaccines even contain Aluminum!

Betcha didn't know your Vet receives the rabies vaccine when they start veterinary school. You know how they continue to test a human's immunity to rabies? A titer test! If it's acceptable to use titers to test humans for rabies immunity how come it's not good for us?

Vaccines for dogs with cancer?
NEVER! None! "Fuhgettaboutit!"
Vaccinations have complex interactions with the immune system and these are not predictable and can be harmful in dogs with cancer as well as cancer survivors. My Mom says please talk to your Vet about a Rabies medical exemption.
How many times have you gone to the Vet and received multiple vaccinations at one time?
To minimize the risk of adverse reactions, tell your humans we should never be vaccinated against rabies within 3-4 weeks of receiving other vaccinations or while receiving medication for parasites.

In Massachusetts, dogs are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies by the age of 6 months. So the pups maternal antibodies do not affect the efficacy of the vaccine, wait as long as the law allows before getting your pup vaccinated for rabies.

Recent communications with the folks at The Rabies Challenge Fund have indicated that the challenge trials have been completed and the dogs have been adopted into their forever homes. As a result, they are no longer accepting donations. However, their scientific paper detailing the results of the research has been peer-reviewed and they expect it to be published in the spring of 2020!
